The wording on the coin includes Jackson's name, the phrase "7th President" and also includes the years which Jackson served in the office, 1829 - 1837. Jackson's predecessor was John Quincy Adams of Massachusetts; he was succeeded by Martin Van Buren of New York. The reverse or the rear side of the Jackson Presidential Dollars will feature the image of the Statue of Liberty at right, as well as the words, "United States of America," and the denomination of "$1." The coin will be made of the same metal, in terms of composition and weight as the Sacagawea Dollar coin is currently made. The Sacagawea Dollar will continue to be produced during the course of the Presidential Dollar Program. The coins in this series are the first American coins produced since 1933 to have lettering along the edge of the coin. The new dollar will feature the words "In God We Trust," "E Pluribus Unum" and the date of production along the rim of the coin. |
