President Andrew Jackson Dollar Coins

As the seventh entry in the new Presidential Dollar Coin Series, Andrew Jackson Dollars will debut in August of 2008. The $1 coins are being produced in accordance with the Presidential Coin Act of 2005, which requires the United States Mint to strike the coins in commemoration of past US Presidents in the order in which they served in office. Andy Jackson was born in South Carolina in 1767. He served his country as a member of the House of Representatives, Senate and as an army General during the War of 1812. He served as President of the United States from 1829 through 1837.
